Lorin Maazel conducts LSO in rehearsal, London
Mar. 03, 1964 - Lorin Maazel to conduct at Festival Hall.: Lorin Maazel, the 33 year old American conductor, arrived in London last night (Tuesday) and is seen here rehearsing with the London Symphony Orchestra this morning for tomorrow's concert at the Royal Festival Hall. Mr. Maazel was to have played a Mozart violin concerto while conducting, but dislocated his elbow in a fall while sightseeing in Japan some months ago. Another Mozart violinist Gyorgy Pauk will play. Mr. Maazel has just been appointed General Musical Director of the West Berlin Opera, and of the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra, an outstanding honour for any musician, and particularly for a non-German.
