Lt Com Mitsuko Fuchida who led Pearl Harbor attack
Mar. 31 The man who led the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor arrives for the premiere of Tora!Tora!Tora! Lieut. Commander Mitsuko Fuchida, the man who led the Japanese air attack on Pearl Harbor, the event which brought America into the war, arrived by air at London Airport today. The former pilot is in London to attend the 20th Century-Fox premiere of TORA! Tora! Tora, the film account of the Pearl Harbor raid told from both the Japanese and American points of view. The film will be premiered at the Leicester Square Theatre, London, on Thursday, October 8th. It was Mr Fuchida who radioed back the code words Tora! Tora! Tora!(Tiger! Tiger! Tiger!) to signify that complete surprise had been achieved in the attack on the American naval base on December 7th 1941. In 1942 Fuchida was severely wounded in both legs, but he survived the war and in 1949 converted to Christianity, becoming a Presbyterian Minister.
