Luchino Visconti with actors in Ludwig II filming

Feb. 02, 1972 - The shooting works for the film Ludwig II will be continued on Rose Island on the lake of starmberg near Munich after having been started in bad Ischl Austria. Under the direction of lucino visconti Helmut Berger stars as the bavarian Fairy tale -king, Rome Schneider as Siessi (Elzabeth of Austria). The outdoor shooting will also be taken in the castle linderhof and Neuschwanstein. The colour film will show the life of the Bavarian king (1845- 1866) from the evening before he was crowned (1864) till his mysterious end in the lake of starnberg.
