Madonna and Child carved from tree trunk, Devon
Mar. 27 THE MADONNA IN THE WOODS. Whilst on a camping holiday on the River Dart, near Staverton, Devon, Doug Rouse, a Dartmoor Sculptor, carved the Madonna and Child from a pine tree trunk that he found washed up on the river bank. It took him 10 days to complete. Staverton people have christened the carving The Madonna in the Woods
