Dec. 19, 1961 - Scientist's controversy about ancient stone sculpture: A stone sculpture showing the head of Roman Emperor Augustus which was found in Mainz during construction work has erased a controversy between named archaeologists. The director of the archaic museum in Mainz, Germany, who bought for 16000 DM he claims sensational relic from the year 20 AD is opposed by other scientists who believe the sculpture is a replica from the 17th century.
