Man-powered flight problem, RAF Benson, Oxford
Mar. 03, 1972 - Man-Powered Flight Comes A Cropper After Being Airborne For 44 Seconds Ar Raf Benson: At Raf Benson, Oxford this morning an attempt on the UK man-powered flying record was made by Flt Lieutenant Potter, who before becoming an Education officer at RAF Halton, flew Hunter and Canberra jets. He made three flights in all, the first two were only short ones but the third went quite well, he got to a height of 25 feet, and was airborne for 44 seconds and flew 500 yards, but as he came into land he crashed damaging the aircraft, but was uninjured himself.
