Manes Sperber, Austrian-French writer and psychologist
Dec. 12, 1980 - 75th Birthday of Manes Sperber: On 12 December 1980 the Austrian-French writer and individual psychologist MANES SPERBER becomes 75 years. Born in 1905 in Zablotow, Galicia, Sperber wrote many novels and gained a name as a witty political-literary essayist, Sperber explained partially autobiographical communism and totalitarism. Among his best known publications are the novel-triology Wie eine Trane im Ozean'(1961) (Like a tear in the ocean), Der Wassertrager Gottes (1974) (The Water Carrier of God), Die vergebliche Warnung (1975) (The vain warning), Individuum und Gemeinschaft (1978) (Individual and Community) and Churban oder die unfassbare Gewissheit (1979) (Churban or the incomprehensible assurance). Manes Sperber was awarded several times, above all with the Remembrance Award New York (1967), the Georg-Buchner prize (1975) as well as the Prix Europeen de l'Essai, Charles Veillon Foundation (1979)
