Jun. 06, 1964 - Courageous Santana takes a rest.: Spaniard Manuel Santana, the No.3 seed had a great victory over American Davis Cup player Gene Scott at Wimbledon yesterday in five sets, after several times being behind including the final set. The previous day, Santana, who is noted for his great agility around the court, had badly injured his right ankle the day before, and could hardly put any weight on it. His victory yesterday was a triumph of skill and determination as he carefully protected his ankle yet managed to produce winning tennis. before he went on court he was given pain killing injections which would make his ankle numb for two hours, but the match lasted for two and a half.
