Dec. 12, 1973 - Instant Inventory These pails of uranium powder at General Electric's Nuclear Fuel Department in Wilmington, N.C. are only a fraction of the thousands of moving containers that can be instantaneously pinpointed within the factory by a revolutionary new computerized manufacturing system. The system, designed by experts at the GE Research and Development Center in Schenectady, N.Y. and manufacturing personnel at the Wilmington plant, tracks and records the manufacturing history of each container as it is processed into fuel for commercial nuclear power reactors.
