Dec. 15, 1964 - Scotland Yard's Corridors Of Power: The Map Room Of Crime: On the ground floor of Scotland Yard are a series of corridors known as the Map Room. This is the Strategic heart of the Yard. Coloured flags record every crime in the Yard territory. It is a library of larceny - a magnum of Mayhem. It is very rarely photographed. It was photographed yesterday as part of the Yard plan to alert people to the particular dangers of crime at Christmas. It advises everyone to keep their homes secure - Locking the car - Looking after your purse, handbag or wallet Different coloured flags are used for different crimes - and it is said that 17, 000 flags were used to record house breaking last year - 36, 000 to record thefts from motor vehicles.
