Margaret Thatcher, sale of GLC property to tenants

Sep. 09, 1979 - Mrs Margaret Thatcher hands over the deeds of the 1000th GLC home to be sold: Tory Leader Mrs. Thatcher, this morning handed over the Deeds at the home of GLC tenant Mr. George Greensmith who is buying after 28 years as a council tenant. It is the 2, 000 GLC house to be sold since the Council's sale of the Century started a year ago. Mr. Greensmith a 58 year old elctronic equipment servicing engineer, has been a GLC tenant since 1958. He and his wife Christine, have lived in their present house, 36, Dornton RoadmRyde Estate, Balham since 1967.
