Mark I and Mark II radio telescopes at Jodrell Bank
Jun. 05, 1964 - New Radio Telescope at Jodrell Bank. The Mark II and the Mark I. The new £300, 000 radio telescope, known as the Mark II, was to be seen at Jodrell Bank yesterday. It has a movable elliptical dish 125 feet across, which allows radio research to be extended far above the existing useful frequency limit of the 250 ft. diameter telescope which has been in use since 1957. In the demonstration yesterday the new telescope picked up its first signals from a source in the constellation Cassiopeia.
