Jan. 01, 1972 - George Best To Go Back To Digs: Part of Manchester United soccer star's George Best's punishment for being absent from training all last week, will be to leave his30, 000 home at Bramhall, Cheshire, for lodgings - the terraced house at Chorlton-cum-Hardy, Manchester, of his former landlady Mrs. Mary Fullaway, for the rest of the season. George Best has also been ordered to forfeit two weeks pay, estimated at between350 and400; Train every morning and afternoon this week, instead of mornings only, to get fit for Saturday's Cup-tie against Southampton; Give up his day off for the next five weeks.
