Mary Munbo barred by age from ITV quiz show

Mar. 03, 1956 - 9-Year-Old Girl Barred From ITV Quiz Show Because She is Too Young - Wonder girl Mary Munbo was robbed of her hour of glory last night. The 9-year-old girl from Finchley, London, was due to appear in Hughie Green's Double Your Money ITV programme in which the viewers would have seen her romp through a stiff spelling test to win 64. The programme was filmed a month ago. But Associated Rediffusion decided to scrap it 35 minutes before it was due to take the air. They did this because they became aware of a clause in the Child Education Act of 1933 which forbids a child under the age of 12 appearing as a paid performer on the professional stage.
