Mary Soames and children arrive at Downing Street

Nov. 30, 1954 - Sir Winston Churchill's 80th Birthday. After the Prime Minister and lady Churchill had entered no 10 Downing St. on return from Westminster Hall, after presentation of portrait of sir Winston, and while members of their family were arriving to join them at luncheon. The crowd outside chanted repeatedly We Want Winston'. Eventually Sir Winston appeared on the steps, the crowd surged forward, brushing police aside, and did not halt until only a few feet away from the Prime Minister. They cheered Madly as sir Winston gave the V sign and repeatedly said, Thank You'. Photo shows Mrs. Mary Soames (Sir Winston's Daughter) and Children arriving at No. 10 downing Street, to attend the family luncheon
