Jul. 07, 1966 - Mrs. Mary Soames names tanker after her mother.: Mrs. Mary Soames, youngest daughter of Lady Spencer-Churchill, and wife of Mr. Christopher Soames, the former Conservative Minister of Agriculture, named a ship after her mother on the Tyne on Monday. The vessel is the 89, 000 - ton deadweight supertanker Clementine Churchill, the second of two building at Swan Hunters, Wallsend, for Mr. Hilmar Reksten, of Bergon, Norway. When the first ship was launched last eyar, Mr. Reksten named it Sir Winston Churchill, as a Norwegian tribute to the British statesman.
