Medieval synagogue discovered in Budapest, Hungary

Nov. 11, 1965 - One of the oldest synagogues of Europe recently unearthed in Budapest : During the restoration works of the Buda castle in Budapest, ruins of a Jewish synagogue of the 15th century have been unearthed by experts in the court of a house in a street of Buda. This Jewish synagogue of middle ages, built in 1461 AD has historical and constructed value of European soals. It has two naves and was built in the Gothic style. After the completion of the restoration works, the ancient synagogue will be open for visitors.
