US Memorial Chapel, St Paul's Cathedral, London
Feb. 26 The United States Memorial Chapel In St. Paul's - Ready For Dedication Service: H.M. The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh will attend the service on Wednesday of dedication of the new United States Memorial Chapel which has been constructed in St. Paul's Cathedral. The chapel will be Britain's tribute to the 28, 000 members of the American Forces who fell in the war when based in this country. The walls of the chapel, formed by the outer curve of the Apse, have been lined up to the windows with British Oak - and on either side of the chapel altar are six carved oak stalls. At the inner ends of the stalls, facing toward the Altar, are two small gilt medallions enclosing portraits of Queen Elizabeth II and President Eisenhower. The Chapel is approached from either the North or from the South through gates of wrought iron by Tijou, who worked with Wren himself upon the Cathedral. The gates have been rehung and painted in black and gold. Photo Shows:- The gilt medallion portrait of H.M. Queen Elizabeth II - which pairs with a similar portrait of President Eisenhower - in the American Chapel
