All over West Berlin the deep shock and affection could be seen as the citizens were arranging spontaneous action to commemorate the death of the US president. He was the one who uttered the message of hope for West Berliners who lived in an enclave deep inside East Germany and feared a possible East German occupation. The speech is known for its famous phrase Ich bin ein Berliner and is considered one of Kennedy's best, and a notable moment of the Cold War
