Nov. 11, 1950 - Malta - The Palace Of The Grand Masters And Residence Of The Governor: The Palace of the Grand Masters, now the Palace of the Governor of Malta, stands on one side of the principal square of Valletta. It was completed in1574. The ground floor is used as offices for the Departments of the Government, and the upper floor contains the state apartments. The enormous Armoury originally contained sufficient equipment for 25, 000 men, today's collection consists of 5721 genuine pieces including early Maximilian, French, Milanese and English specimens. The Council Chamber or Tapestry Hall, with its magnificent Gobelin tapestries is used for sittings of the Legislative Assembly
