1953 - New'walkies-Talkie for front line troops. Shown at Radio Components exhibition. Photo shows A new Walkies-Talkie for front-line troops - showing some of its components, it is exhibited by the ministry of Supply's signals research and development Establishment. It measures only 6 x 4 x 3 and weighs 2 lbs. With it is carried a batter half its size and weighing 4 lbs. Specially designed for men with no previews experience of wireless operation, the set has a range of 1 1/2 miles. It was sub-miniature components and constructional techniques have been developed to achieve minium size and weight. It is seen at the British Radio Components exhibition at Grosvenor House
