Oct. 10, 1952 - Ship On Rocks 20 Feet From Houses: Women and girls helped to rescue 62 men yesterday from 1, 000-ton vesses, Wave, which was driven ashore by a gale at St. Ives, Cornwall. They hung on to the surging ropes while fishermen, policemen and shopkeepers hauled the men ashore by breeches buoy. Showers of oil from the ship swept over the quayside - and a doctor went among the drenched rescuers wiping it from their eyes. The Wave, a fishery protection vessel was driven on to the rocks only 20 feet from houses in the town.
