1953 - Bismarck's Saloon Carriage - is no longer a show-piece for us with our streamlined railway-locomotives and cars but it is of special interest for the Traffic Museum which is to be opened on April 22nd. The carriage was built in 1872 and was placed at the free disposal of the Iron Chancellor on the then German railway-net. It contains one room with seats and couches, sleeping- and working-rooms and one compartment for servants. It was heated with charcoal. The carriage was robbed out at the end of the war and it took much trouble to get ready everything as it was. Photo shows Bisma-recks saloon-carriage just coming out of the repair-works and driving into the hall of the traffic museum
