May 05, 1957 - International Geophysical Year Exhibition At Science Museum - South Kensington: An exhibition is being held to illustrate the scope and aims of the International Geophysical Year - at the Science Museum, South Kensington. The Geophysical Year extends from July 1957 to the end of December 1958 - and more than forty nations are making observations throughout the world of physical phenomena associated with the earth the sea and the air. Photo Shows:- Douglas and Colin Shand - brothers from Wembley seen L-R:- looking at a model of the United States Earth Satellite. The model is 12 inches in diame - and the launching is to take place from Cape Canaveral on the East Coast of Florida during the year. Seen at the exhibition today
