Dec. 12, 1957 - Public House named after Sherlock Holmes: A press preview was held today at The Sherlock Holmes-the first public house to be named after the world's most famous detective of fiction, Sherlock Holmes-Formerly The Northumberland Arms, this house has now been restored, renamed and furnished with items from the collection which formed part of the Festival of Britain Exhibition in 1951 and was sent to New York the following year. The living room at 221B Baer Street, has been faithfully reconstructed in an alcove leaving to the new dining room on the first floor.
