Aug. 08, 1959 - Ancient Sussex Windmill is being dismantled to be re-erectd in Surrey: The famous old Jolesfield Windmill, built about 1790 at Littleworth, near Partridge Green, Sussex, is now being dismantled, despite protests from residents. The 170 year old mill a smock mill (one in which the cap and sails only revolve) is to be re-erected and restored to full working order in the grounds of the 13th century Gatwick Manor, on the London to Brighton road. Mr. Edwin Hole, who is one of Britain's few remaining millwrights, is in charge of the dismantling operaions, Mr. Nevvar Hickmet, the new owner, is spending more than £40, 000 on Gatwick Manors 16th century Tithe Bern and 13th century Hyders Hall.
