Feb. 25 Huge Bronze Group By Epstein For Conventry Cathedral To be Unveiled By Lady Epstein.: Lady Epstein, widow of Sir Jacob Epstein is to unveil the huge bronze group of St. Michael Triumphing over the Devil on the wall alongside the West door of the new Conventry Cathedral - on Friday June 24th. The group weighs about five tons and the top of the head of the Saint is about 30ft. above the ground, with the devil at his feet. The group was the last major work to be completed by Sir Jacob before his death - and in keeping with his wish - photography of the group was not allowed before it had been placed into position. St. Michael is the Patron Saint of the Cathedral. Photo shows the group in position on the wall alongside the West Door of Conventry Cathedral.
