Feb. 29 Earthquake Damages Acropolis: Now that the human tell in the recent earthquake in the Greece has been wrecked, concern has centered upon damage to the 25-centurty Old Acropolis in Athens. The government has ordered a fill report on the damage, but an initial inspection has revealed that two columns of the Parthenon have moved by about 1/2cm, and other sculptured details have broken. It is also feared that earth movements under the temple must have dislocated the foundation and weakened the general structure, The damage has further complications the delicate restoration work which has been in process for the last two ears.
