Dec. 12, 1961 - This rare picture of the Grand Canyon under a mantle of snow was taken from the veranda of the lodge on the Chasm's North Rim. However, it is a daily view for Mr. and Mrs. Louis Hillis, who are spending an isolated winter there to keep the resort in shape for next summer's Influx of vacationists. The photographer who took the picture had to travel 44 miles by Sno-Cat through the Kaibas National Forest
