Jan. 10, 1961 - New Information Centre For Hyde Park Road Scheme:Members of the public interested in the progress of construction work on the L.C.C's Hyde Park Corner/Marble Arch Improvement Scheme can now obtain answers to many questions at a special information centre which opened today near the Achilles Statute by the East Carriageway in Hyde Park. London policemen, taxi-drivers and bus crews who use the area regularly, were among those specially invited to see the centre this morning. The information centre has been seated by the Cubitts Fitzpatrick Shand civil engineering consortium which is the main contractor for the L.C.C'S ?5 1/2 million scheme. It features a big shop window, and there is a detailed scale model of the scheme showing the stages of progress at Hyde Park Corner, together with drawings and captioned photographs of the project. A special attraction is the Audiomatic telephone dial which allows any member of the public to dial up to twenty questions about the scheme and receive the answer over a loud speaker.
