May 05, 1967 - Hands Christian Andersen's Little Mermaid arrives in London; The only existing copy, by the original artist, of Capenhagen's world famous bronze statue the Little Mermaed arrived in London today accompanied by a group of Danish girls in national costume. They delivered the statue to Hatchett's Restaurant in Piccasilly, where it will have a permanent home in the al fresco bar of the restaurant. The statue, which has been insured for1, 250 by Carlsberg Breweries of Denmark, will be part of the200, 000 face-lift which Hatchett's one of London's oldest restaurants, has been undergoing for the past twelve months.
