May 05, 1968 - The unveiling and dedication of the memorials to Lord Byron in Westminster Abbey.: A memorial to the famous poet, Lord Byron, was unveiled at a dedication derive in Westminster Abbey today by the President of the Poetry Society. Dr. William Plomer. Lord Byron today got the recognition many people have tried to get for him over half a century - a place in Poet's Corner in the Abbey. Byron who had a broken marriage, illegitimate children and a number of mistresses, died in Greece in 1824.
