Dec. 07, 1982 - Badly damaged after the floods that ravaged Florence, Italy in November of 1966, the crucifix of Santa Croce has been the object of a long and exemplary restoration in the labs of museums of Florence. The crucifix of Santa Croce was painted by Ceni Di Pepi, called Cinabue (1240-1302). The crucifix is painted on canvas which is glued to a board according to rules instituted by Cennini later on. The famous crucifix of Cinabue was restored by Umberto Baldini during the 10 years following the catastrophe in Florence. In 1981, the idea to show it off in the world's best museums was envisioned under Olivetti's direction of cultural relations. The crucifix will be shown at the Louvre in Paris until the end of January 1983, before which it was sent to the National Gallery in London. Before coming to Paris, the crucifix was shown at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York
