Men voting in San Marino General Election

Aug. 08, 1955 - General election in San Marino. In the general election held yesterday in San Marino, the world's smallest republic, the communists and their socialist allies were returned with an increased majority. In an effort to swing the majority to their side, the anti-communists flew 60 San Marino men from America to vote. These immigrants to America have not yet become US citizens and so were eligible to vote. Under the communist regime, the women of San Marino have no vote.
