Meneze brothers campaign for Azores independence

Feb. 02, 1975 - Free the Azores - nine small Portuguese islands in the Atlantic, all of them of great strategic importance, want to become independent. The Mapa-Movement for independence of the Azores is, unlike other such organisations, managed by extreme right-wing people, many of them sympathisers of Salazar and Caetano. Photo shows the brothers de Meneze, Mapa executives, at their headquarters at Ponta Delgada on Sao Miguel island
