Apr. 18 Mexico City Fine Arts Palace exterior cleaned by women.: The Palacio De Bellas Artes, an all white marble structure which has been left to collect dirt for decades because engineers flet it was hopelessly sinking-is finally being cleaned. The facade is consideredone of the finest examples of art nouveau style in the world. Women were chosen because the architects in charge of the renovation project headed by architect Luis Ortiz Macedo, felt that women would be more careful with the delicate work. Some parts to be cleaned are more than 100 feet above street level, and this is the first time Mexican women have been employed in such dangerous work. They are being paid and insured at the same scale as male construction workers
