Michael Foot, Barbara Castle and Alice Wade

Jan. 01, 1975 - Alice the 1917 London bus Clippie at Reception to Mark the Implementation of the Royal Pay Act Mrs. Alice Wade, 78, who was a London Bus Clippie in 1977 and whose picture appears on the invitations to the big celebration banquet held this evening at the Banqueting House in Whitehall to mark the implementation of the Equal Pay Act. The search for the clippie started two weeks ago when a poster showing Alice as a clippie on a London Bus in 1917 appeared in the Evening News. Friends showed her the picture which she recognised right away. Guest of Honour with Mrs. Wade will be Mrs. Barbara Castle Social Services Secretary, and Mr. Michael Foot Secretary of State for Employment.
