Mar. 03, 1968 - Mr. George Brown Resigns - Mr. Michael Stewart takes over as Foreign Secretary: Mr: George Brown, who has been Britain's Foreign Secretary for the last 19 months resigned late last night. Mr. Brown's resignation followed a furious row in which he complained about not being consulted on Government moves in the Gold Crisis. He is replaced by 61 year old Mr. Michael Stewart, who was first Secretary of State and No. 3 in the Cabinet-and was Foreign Secretary-before Mr. Brown took over.
