Michailo Patus, Ukrainian engineer in Germany
Feb. 28 Ukrainian Conference in Munich - Our picture shows 60-year-old Michailo Patus an Ukrainian engineer who opened the Ukrainian Congress in Munich, Bavaria, Germany. Patus is a professional engineer. He started his career in the days before World War I. During the time of the Soviet revolution, he had been arrested by the State Police and sentenced to a life-long term in Siberia. There he lost his left arm. Nowadays, he is living in Munich, and belongs to the poorest of the poor. When our reporter asked him what he thinks of his life, Patus said, And still I feel free in a Free World Keystone-Munich.December 20th, 1952
