Mar. 03, 1953 - A Japanese Butterfly Makes BBC Recording For Japanese Service: A Madame Butterfly who really is Japanese has arrived in London. She is Michiko Sunahara from Tokyo. She has been singing the role of Cio-Cio-San in Puccini's opera Madame Butterfly for the past 18 months at the Opera Comique in Paris. Miss Sunahara, at 28, one of Japan's leading sopranos, sings Madame Butterfly in Japanese and speaks little English. But her French is perfect. This evening she made a BBC recording for the Japanese service. Photo shows Miss Sunahara pictured making her BBC recording this evening
