Mikhail Sholokhov, Soviet writer, 70th birthday

Feb. 28 SOVIET WRITER Mikhail Sholokhov WILL BE 70 ON MAY 24TH. 70 Years old becomes the Soviet author Mikhail Aleksandrovich Sholokhov. He has been a famous writer for 50 years. The first of his stories and feuilletons were published in 1923. His novel And Quiet Flows the Don made him famous all around the world, it was followed by Virgin Soil Upturned and They Fought for their Country'. His works have been translated into 78 foreign languages. Mikhail Sholokhov won the Nobel Prize in 1965, he also holds the Lenin Prize and is an honorary member of several foreign academies. Today he lives in Veshenskaya on the River Don
