Nov. 11, 1965 - The Longest Bridge in Europe: The longest bridge in Europe, the three-mile long Costers cheldeburg, is to be opened on December 15th. by Queen Juliana. It is part of the Delta project in the prevince of Zeeland, designed to avoids repetition of the disastrous fleeds in Zeeland in 1953. The bridge, which has been built in less than three years, has 525 spans, and is supported by 162 pillars, and will connect the centre of the province Zeeland with the large towns, Amsterdam, Rotterdam and The Hague.
