Jul. 07, 1950 - Navy Ammunition Barges blows up Explosion in Portsmouth; Six naval barges loaded with more than 1000 tons of ammunition blew up in Portmouth Harbour last night. Two big explosions were followed by a series of smaller ones. Bedenham Pier, Gosport was wrecked, and fires broke out along the foreshore. 20 people were injured.
