Nov. 11, 1950 - Winter Kit For U.S. Marines In Korea: The U.S. Marines in Korea have a special alpaca-lined parka overcoat. It fits over all their winter weight garments and the hood fits over a steel helmet. The coat is long enough to wrap around a man's feet when he is crouched or sitting in a foxhole. Beneath the overcoat the Marine wears: Triple-ply cotton field-jacket and overpants; high neck sweater, woolen winter service trousers; flanneel shirt; heavy woolen underwear, two pairs of wool socks and heavy felt innersole within shoe-pac'. His hands are encased in wool mittens or leather wool lined gloves, over which are mitten shells with trigger fingers. His face is almost enclosed by parka hoods on field jacket and overcoat
