1953 - Last of the Ancient Tea Clippers - at Greenhithe. The Commander and an Aprentice'.: The last of the ancient Tea Clippers the famous Futty Sark: - is moored at Greenhitche alongside the training ship Worcester and has been used as an overflow for the training vessel. An Appeal is being launched by the Cutty Sark Preservation Society to raise an estimated at £250, 000 to enable to vessel to be permenently moored at Greenwich and to establish a series of burseries to help young men train and quality as officers of the Merchan Navy.
