Feb. 02, 1959 - American convoy relieved at Marienborn: After long negotiations, the Soviets in the evening of Feb. 4th 1959 relieved the four lorreys, loaded with an old jeep, which they had kept (against the Law) at the checkpoint at the Soviet side of the border at Marienborn, and let them pass without controlling them. The five American soldiers had to wait 54 hours in the bitter cold just in front of the border until they could go on into the Federal Republic of Germany. o.p.s.
