Aug. 08, 1959 - Switch Starts Invasion Of U.S. Squadrons To England: First moves have begun in the reshaping of the United States Air Force tactical squadrons in Europe following General de Gaulle's refusal to allow the Americans to store nuclear weapons in France. Squadrons of tactical fighter-bombers are to be switched from airfields in France to Germany, while aircraft with longer range, are being moved back to Britain. Today the 10th Tactical Reconnaissance Wing, of the U.S. Air Force, flew into the R.A.F. station at Aleonbury, Hunttingdonshire, from Germany.
