Jan. 01, 1959 - Royal Marine Commando Just Fails To Set Up New Marching Record: Corporal Ronald Knight, 28-year-old Royal Marine Commando from Romford, Essex - member of the Royal Marine Forces Volunteer Reserve, City of Lono Unit - arrived at haring Cross station this afternoon - at the ned of his weekend walk. Je unluckily had to give up just South of Epping - 10 muiles short of Stratford became of a p[ulled muscle. he was trying to beat the record set up by Lieut. Wayne B. Nicholl of the U.S. Army - who wal;ked 104.8 miles in 40 and a half hours. He completed the journey from Epping to charming Cross by transport.
