Aug. 08, 1959 - American atomic submarine - skipjack - arrives at Portland.: The American atomic submarine, Skipjack, was three hours late arriving at Portland today, having been held up by strong winds and fig after leaving Londonderry yesterday. On board the submarine was British Commander B. Samborne, who is to be the first captain of the British atomic submarine, Dreadnought. The Shkipjack is America's sixth and latest atomic submarine. Photo shows the USS, Skipjack, coming alongside to tie up, at the quay in Portland Dockyard, after arriving today
