Mar. 25, 1959 - Army Personnel Undergo Heat Tests': Volunteer Army Personnel are now under-going a series of Heat Tests - at the Army Research Establishment at Hampstead. The tests include lifting 50 11 ammunition boxes in rotatoon on and off make-believe lorry tailboards - in a room with humidity temp of Dewpoint 84. This is carried out in four hour periods of 30 mins. of lifting and 30 min. break which includes recording periods. At the end of each period four men observers examine the volunteers condition of breathing - pulse etc. Throughout each test the volunteers wear an IMP mask (Integrating Motor Pneumotachograph) which records breathing - oxygen content etc. Photo shows Gordon Atkinson of Sheffield - one of the Volunteers - is weighed after a heat test period. (They are weighed both before and after the test)
